Carl Freer - A little about one of the most famous tech minds today
The year 2000 marked the birth of Swedish entrepreneur Carl Freer’s electronics distributor named Eagle Eye Scandinavian. The company’s growth was followed by a merger in 2002 when Freer joined hands with Michael Carrender, the directing head of a carpet retailer in Florida. This resulted in the formation of Tiger Telematics and Freer become its CEO. Its mission was to take on the industry and develop a highly innovative hand-held gaming gadget that would compete with the biggest names in electronic developers.
Since the time was conducive to the birth and growth of gaming consoles and a diverse range of gaming products, Tiger Telematics offer enthusiastic game addicts some new to crush upon. Named Gametrac, the gizmo was essentially a lifestyle product invented to appeal to children in the age group 7-15 years. The product is indeed one of its kind at it packed in all the wonders of technology into a single solid body. The gadget offered SMS compatibility, MP3 playback and GPS compatibility besides 3D gaming. Thus, kids could have fun as parents would be able to keep tab of their movements within the safety boundaries. So, phenomenal was the success that the product went on to feature in the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in the January of 2004. Debut of the Gizmondo
The Gizmondo launched its first game called “Trailblazer”, which left an impressive mark with game enthusiasts in love with high-speed racing. the game was in the likes of Amplitude, which was a much-loved game in the world over. So, with the first game being a clear winner, the expectations from the second was quite high. The system opened its Regent Street Store whose coming-soon shelves fast filled up with stellar ones like Carmageddon, Worms World Party and Colours, which was the world’s first GPS video games. The next generation games were a crazy success and fans got excited for more. Till date, 14 successful games have been launched on the Gizmondo and majority of them have been runaway successes within days of their launch. Sticky Balls, the puzzle game received a re-birth on iOS in 2014. The pressure to offer something new and exciting was such that majority of their games released within a single year. Thus, Gizmondo owners were treated to something great and super exciting within a gap of a few months. However, the popularity of the old games did not die out at all.
